Cooperation meeting for a tramway revitalisation in Reșița / Romania

19 June 2018

On June 7th, a cooperation meeting between employees of iproplan® Planungsgesellschaft mbH, Chemnitzer Verkehrs-AG (CVAG) and a Romanian delegation took place in Chemnitz.

The purpose of this meeting was the envisaged development of a tramway revitalisation project in the Romanian city Reșița.

During a morning meeting of 2.5 hours, iproplan® and the CVAG firstly presented the tramway projects that had been implemented together so far, laying special focus on the project “Chemnitzer Modell” for being renown supra-regionally. The Romanian delegation with Reșița’s head mayor Mr. Ioan Popa gave an insight into the project backgrounds, the current design status and the future development of the tramway revitalisation in Reșița. Further, a lively discussion started about technical questions concerning tramway design in general, regarding operational procedures, technical equipment of tramways and relevant retrofitting measures, construction materials, financing as well as time schedules.

After the meeting being held at iproplan® headquarters, all the participants jointly made their way to the tramway depot in Chemnitz-Adelsberg in order to participate in a factory tour. Technical components, complex workshop procedures and possible maintenance measures for tramways could be discussed on site. For the end of the day, the CVAG had chartered a tramway that brought the entire delegation from Adelsberg among other destinations to the main station, to central station, and to the terminal station “Technopark”. All passengers left the train from time to time at stops being relevant for special tramway design procedures. Also the diverse tramway junctions as well as the barrier-free access of the different track systems raised the Romanian guests’ interest.
