iproplan® on the fair “F.I.T. for future”

15 July 2020

The 4th Saxon regional exhibition called „BOOM. 500 Jahre Industriekultur in Sachsen” (BOOM. 500 years of industrial culture in Saxony) has been opened on Friday, 10th July 2020 by the Saxon Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer and his counterparts Barbara Klepsch (State Minister for Culture and Tourism) and Martin Dulig (State Minister for Economic affairs, Labour and Transport).

Beside the historic exhibition of Saxon industrial culture on the upper floor level of the Audi building in Zwickau where numerous exciting exhibits can be found, the visitor can also get information about the current state-of-the-art in diverse industrial sectors as well as about professional education in commerce and craft within the framework of the additional exhibition “F.I.T. for future”.

iproplan® presents two exhibits at "F.I.T. for future". For this purpose, the historic Audi building – at the time production site of Auto Union (merger of the brands Audi, DKW, Horch and Wanderer – the origin of the 4 Audi rings) – has been remodelled in its shell construction. The visitor can superimpose the created model on the real building with the help of a tablet (Augmented Reality) and hence get a glimpse of the hidden reinforcement bars within the structural columns. With the technology, it is also possible to look behind the exhibition’s walls.

The visitor can also explore a “digital building twin” on a big touchscreen. For this purpose, the data of our BIM models have been analysed and visualised in colours. Intelligent elevations can display the entire MEP technology within the transparent architectural model, whether it is switches and sockets or huge heating and ventilation facilities. Additionally, the load-bearing construction components or the emergency escape routes can be analysed in the building model.

During the official inauguration tour with the Saxon Prime Minister, we had the opportunity to present our digital building twin to Mr. Kretscher in person and to explain its advantages. We noticed with astonishment that BIM is not unknown among the government (keyword “BIM mandate 2020”, Alexander Dobrindt) and could immediately be connected to our intelligent building model. Iproplan® is pleased to have contributed to a successful opening of the exhibition.

The 4th Saxon regional exhibition is open to visitors until 31st December 2020. The main exhibition in the Audi building in Zwickau will be complemented by decentralised locations with focus on other specific topics:

  • EisenbahnBoom. - Eisenbahnmuseum Chemnitz-Hilbersdorf (rail)
