Green parking: Sustainable mobility on new paths

01 June 2023

Transportation is critical to the economy and freedom, but it also poses health and sustainability problems. Despite technological advances, traffic density and vehicle numbers are increasing. In this context, parking garages play a significant role because they are highly efficient in terms of space. Therefore, securing the future of parking garages is becoming increasingly important.

iproplan® once again demonstrates its expertise in meeting these demanding challenges and creates a holistic and future-oriented project.

Our sustainable parking garage in Hamburg is a project that goes far beyond pure parking planning. Despite strict specifications for nature conservation and immissions in an adjacent residential area, we managed to do without mechanical ventilation. The clever arrangement of atriums and shafts in the basement
-shafts in the basement, the parking garage can make use of natural ventilation. In addition, sound absorbers in the light wells help to reduce noise emissions. The project also impresses with its innovative water and land use concepts. The building does not discharge wastewater and instead uses collected rainwater to irrigate the elaborate green facades. In addition, the green roof serves as an additional parking deck and is automatically activated as needed. In addition to 530 parking spaces, 50 parking spaces with electric vehicle charging infrastructure will also be built.

iproplan® has taken over the general planning for lots 1 - 3 and 5 and is thus setting new standards for sustainable and multifunctional construction. The realization of the entire project is expected to extend into the year 2025. Currently, construction is taking place in Lot 1, road construction.

Lot 1: Road construction
Lot 2: Parking garage building
Lot 3: Outdoor facilities incl. TA
Lot 4: Turning area
Lot 5: Tree felling
