The Baldauf factory in Marienberg / Erzgebirgskreis is now ready for occupancy. Originally a button factory, the building was converted into living space. This resulted in 28 modern apartments and an underground parking garage. Last week, after a three-year conversion period, the property was ceremoniously handed over to the owner, Stadtwerke Marienberg GmbH. iproplan® was responsible for the complete structural design, ground investigation and waste assessment of the ground and the building for this beautiful project.
The construction project presented a challenge: A considerable part of the building structure first had to be demolished and then rebuilt. Particular attention was paid to preserving the characteristic façade of the building, which characterizes the townscape.
Minister of State Thomas Schmidt emphasized the importance of renovating such historic industrial buildings for urban development. The rescue of the Baldauf factory through urban development funding is a successful example of the preservation of valuable buildings.
Congratulations to our #teamiproplan for the great effort in transforming the Baldauf factory.
