Athletes move into boarding school at the Sport School Centre in Chemnitz

11 April 2018

On Monday, the newly renovated boarding school building on Reichenhainer Straße was officially opened at the Chemnitz School Centre for Sports. After two years of construction, the foreign students of the sports school were able to move into their new rooms.
iproplan® was involved in the project as planner for the object planning of the building, open space planning, thermal building physics, building and room acoustics and sound insulation, from the design planning to the construction supervision.

Punctually at 3 p.m., music resounded from the loudspeakers in front of the new boarding school building and a few gymnasts attracted attention. With acrobatic jumps and somersaults, they set the mood for the festivities and made the faces of the 50 or so guests look enthusiastic. Among them were some boarding school residents, numerous representatives of the press, representatives of the companies involved in the planning and construction and those responsible for sports at the school centre.

Sven Schulze, mayor for personnel, finances and organisation of the city of Chemnitz, summed up the project positively as a representative of the city and praised the modern building and the now very good conditions under which the athletes can live in the boarding school. Modern technology such as the locking system using a key chip in the entire building, the furnishing of the rooms and, last but not least, the common rooms leave hardly anything to be desired. This was also the conclusion of boarding school director Gerlinde Heber, who was visibly pleased about the new and clearly improved standards. A pupil of the sports high school and resident of the boarding school was also given a chance to speak for a few minutes and describe her impressions before Sven Schulze finally symbolically handed over the key for the completely renovated building to the boarding school director.
Afterwards, all those present had the opportunity to take a look at the rooms from the inside and to talk to the architect and project manager.

For iproplan® Planungsgesellschaft mbH, the completion of the boarding school is a positive sign of the promotion of young athletes in Chemnitz and at the same time a big step towards further establishing top-class sport in the city. We are pleased about this step and wish all boarding school residents and supervisors a lot of joy in the new building.
